ldap2pbx's goal is to combind IT management with phone management. The solution is to import information from LDAP (MS Active Directory) and then converted into asterisk configuration data.
which are persons that are assigned phone resources like SIP accounts, Voicemail boxes and queue agent identifiers. The term user is used in this document to refer to an actual person using the system.
is how users are organized. If you only have a single small organization it may be that using ldap2pbx is an overkill for you. If that is not the case, chances are that your users are organized in different departments, sections or some other organizational segregation. In LDAP, and therefore also in ldap2pbx, these units of separation are named organizational Units, or OUs.
A PBX is a computer running Asterisk. Each PBX may handle from none to many OUs, and ldap2pbx automatically handles the connection between them using the IAX VoIP protocol.
The ldap2pbx project has been sponsored by Buskerud Fylkeskommune, Drammen, Norway.
